Our school is home to about 260 students in grades 5-8, with approximately 65 students per grade level. In all grades, students have a homeroom teacher, who is their primary teacher for the year. They travel to different classrooms and have different teachers for language arts, math, science, social studies, phy ed, and band/choir. Additionally, they have Explore classes such as Spanish, art, agriculture, and computers depending on the grade level. Students in grades 5 and 6 travel with their homeroom groups to all classes. Students in grades 7 and 8 typically do not travel with their homeroom groups.
We use a multi-tiered system of support for PMS students. If a child is struggling academically or with behaviors, teacher teams meet to discuss supports that can be put in place to help each student achieve his or her potential. Sometimes support is offered by a teacher in the classroom. Other times, students receive support in a small group or as an individual in an alternative setting.
We use a standards-based grading system at the middle school, which means that students are assessed on their mastery of the many components of language arts, math, science, etc. This allows teachers to pinpoint where students are struggling or excelling. Students receive grades of 4-3-2-1-0 for 5th & 6th grades, A-B-C-D-F for 7th & 8th grades for each of the standards in their classes. They also receive a “Life Skills” grade, which allows students, teachers, and families to understand such things as motivation, organization, timeliness, and respect for others.
As part of our PBIS program, students are rewarded for exhibiting positive behavior with tickets called PAWS. We have monthly drawings for small prizes like snacks and gift cards. In May, students can “buy” bigger rewards with the tickets they have earned throughout the year. We also have incentive trips each trimester. The first-trimester incentive is an afternoon activity at school. The second-trimester trip is to the movie theater or roller rink. The third-trimester trip is to Mt. Olympus. Students earn points each week for filling out their planner, having it signed by a parent, being on time to class, turning in their homework on time, and not getting any minor or major behavior referrals. Eighty percent of the total points available for that trimester are required for a student to earn each trip.
The staff at Pardeeville Middle School is a group of caring, committed individuals who work tirelessly to nurture and grow the hearts and minds of the young people they serve. Please reach out with any questions or concerns and we will always do our best to address them promptly. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help the young people of our wonderful community reach their dreams.

Attendance
A high attendance rate is crucial for students to be successful in school. Students and parents must both understand that low attendance rates can have a negative impact on grades and overall learning as well as future work ethics.
Staying home from school may cause a student to fall behind in class and miss important lessons or tests. Students and parents are reminded that they have a maximum of 10 school days that can be missed during the school year for personal illness, family activities and vacations. Any days beyond that can result in truancy citations.
If your child will need to leave school due to an appointment, please note that the school does require verification from the appointment to be marked excused. We ask that efforts be made to schedule appointments after school or on days when school is not in session. If your child has to leave school for an appointment, please send a note or call the middle school office before coming to school to pick up the student so we do not have to disturb classes in session.
If your child will be absent, please call the middle school office to report the absence - 608-429-2153, ext. 386 or email msattendance@pasdwi.org BEFORE 8:30 am.
Communication
Communication from school is often sent via text or email through Messenger 2.0. Please be sure to keep your information updated via Infinite Campus to ensure you receive these important announcements. If you need help accessing Infinite Campus, please contact the Middle School Office.
